Majority of people aren't like that.
People of several years difference hangout quite regularly. 

Plus only one of them is vicious/hostile, and she's meant to be a villain. I don't get how Tyren is seen as scary.

Their appearances aren't so far off that it's not unbelievable.
Plus over the years even if they don't physically age they would mentally age and have more experience, and this would reflect the way they dress, their body is built (exercise) and how they present themselves.
