[hider= Verrad Estache, Inquisitor of the Church of Deities] Name: Verrad Estache Race: Human Age: 31 Appearance: [img=http://i39.servimg.com/u/f39/18/55/85/43/yourav14.jpg] Class: Inquisitor of the Church of Deities. Basically a special kind of bounty hunter/assassin of the church who specializes in seeking out “heretics” (This does not mean criminals or non-believers). From the church’s point of view, it would be anyone who messes with the cycle of life or any being coming from outside of this pane of existence. Strengths: Words of Order – In short, this describes his magic taught by the Church to banish and harm creatures and undeath from the plane of the living and the plane of mortals that do not belong. They do not belong to the natural order of life and Verrad can push his magic onto them to hinder them or, if Verrad sets the proper ritual and is strong enough, simply banish the creature back into its native world. Undeath are simply destroyed and their bodies and souls become immune to the curse of undeath. It is much easier for Verrad to banish undeath than to banish creatures of the outer world. Words of Truth – This magic is a particular and odd magic that most people of the Church says he is born with. This allows Inquisitor Verrad to be resistant versus mind affecting effects and can disperse illusions set upon him or those around. It also allows him to compel someone to tell the truth, but is a dangerous magic to employ as its drawbacks can turn Verrad insane or even kill him. Tracking the Heretics – One particular set of skills is that he is a trained “bounty-hunter”, although typically never does tracks for money. He usually tends to do it for the sake of the Church and the community he comes from. His tracking is made for creatures especially but can track down a mortal living being just as fine too. Takedown and Specialized Combat – Unlike most warriors, he is not a front line fighter nor is he really a fighter at all. It is not to say he cannot handle a sword, but his skills are below one of a soldier. He does, however, have a keen sense for shooting crossbows and good in hand-to-hand combat and the use of daggers in close melee. He excels in grappling an opponent to the ground of throws. He also uses a variety of specialized equipment like bolas, nets, chains and rope in combat and some other odd ones, mostly made to capture and not to kill. Weaknesses: The Price of Order – The magic of Order has its limitations and backfires when used improperly. The creatures he banishes need to be weakened to be able to banish them without a proper ritual. This causes an immense drain in his energy to do it without the proper ritual. And for the ritual, the creature needs to be within the Circle of Order, a drawing made with white powder on an even ground. The energy use to banish the dead isn’t as great but can still prove to exhaust the Inquisitor. Whenever Verrad tries to banish something that is neither outsiders nor dead, the magic lashes back at him, causing actual bodily harm. The Price of Truth – Like the Magic of Order, Truth has its limitation and backfires. Trying to force someone to tell the truth that doesn’t have a “consciousness” just has no effect, just as trying to compel someone being controlled also has no effect, but does determine that the being is under control. If, by any chance, Verrad tried to force someone who IS telling the truth, it affects his mental sanity directly, hearing voices telling him he is speaking the truth, the voices both calm and angered. Specialized Combat: He is not a front-line warrior. He can handle a blade but that is it. He would prefer sneaking up onto people or make sure they are incapacitated before even daring to approach a foe. This usually means he works as a team a never alone (Unless it is a task to capture a creature and banish it, then he can manage) The Order vs Morals: His orders are not always the most noble and pure. Sometimes, he is asked to do some dirty deeds in which he is sometimes confronted with his own morals… this causes hesitation that can sometime prove to be just the time needed for whatever task he has to do to me impossible to accomplish.
