Charlotte's words explained why the men were stalking a little girl down an alley, but he still had no idea why the men had been knocked out so mysteriously. He had a hard time believing she was lying, so he assumed it must have been something that she didn't understand. The marks on them clearly showed that someone had used force against them, but a normal person couldn't do this without being seen. Aaron knew that there had been a lot of strange happenings in town recently, and he didn't want to investigate too much further. Getting involved in that stuff would only add to his worries.

Crazy weird shi-stuff has been going on lately, stuff no one can explain, and now I'm seeing it with my own two eyes. If you've got a phone on you, now would be a good time to call the police and tell them what happened." It was hard projecting a good image, especially around children. All he cared about was that the girl was safe, someone else could waste time finding out what took out the thugs.
