Maybe something along the lines of Alex agreeing to go with him if he lets Riley go, then the guy lets her go, but Alex attacks, but the man fires the gun and it shoots Riley, maybe grazes her side or something, and this guy flees and Alex takes her to the hospital and there he can explain to her everything and about who Oliver really was?
