An innocent looking book which Kai writes haiku inside. In truth, the book is the vessel of a rather powerful kemono who was born from a combination of Kai's paranoia and sorrow which began after a certain event (to be revealed). Upon completing a poem - most if not all of which are rather morbid and/or depressing - a Kemono will be formed from the main emotion from the form. For example, a poem about a lonely night will create a kemono of loneliness or fear, while a haiku about madness will create a Kemono created from madness. Kai does not realize he is creating Kemono, for he feels that Haiku is a way of relieving his mind from a constant paranoia, fear, loss and sorrow that has overtaken him. 

Due to the fact that it's main energy source, Kai's negative emotions, is always close by it is able to "hibernate" for short periods, preventing nearby spirits and magical children from detecting it as a kemono.[/hider]
