The prince hadn't realized that Savayna had gotten so close until she was right before him. She'd wrap her arms around him, and he admitted his surprise. He could have sworn her of all people would have scolded him, ridiculed him. Instead she was completely sympathetic. Something deep in him swelled up, but he was just so glad that at least she was not blaming him. He felt eternally grateful and equally as guilty. He didn't deserve her kindness, not one bit. He would hug her back tightly, only now noticing how small she was compared to him. Perhaps it was her demeanor that had distracted him. Either way he thanked the gods.
