I have a really, really soft spot for Vin too <3 She's awesome.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how... I'm not bothered by Kelsier and Vin being special little darlings and having all those types of allomantic powers and being 'special' which otherwise come across as really cliche and trite. Mistborn's characterisation is just a lot of fun. 

And yeah, nothing against elves and dwarves in particular, I'm just bored with them and like seeing new things. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings might be good but it doesn't mean everything needs to essentially riff on it. 

Also, the description of that Inquisitor with the spikes through it's eyes... @_@
