Currency is D&D currency, 
Silver Pieces, are used for ammo 'n bait 'n shit, basicly the really cheep crappy stuff. 1k silver to 1 gold
Gold pieces are used for standard Items, like swords, guns, basic weapons and armour, 100 Gold to 1 plat
Platinum Peices are used for magic items, Houses, land Ect. 

So for instance you can buy 6 arrows for 30 silver.
A full suit of plate armour would cost you 400 gold.
And a amulet of Giant strength (+200 strength) would cost you 500 (ish) Plat.
