It might be best if we don't bring in deities from other cultures... sorry.
Anyways, as for the magic, we have kind of a spell list, and each spell in said list has three powers of itself and typically three ranks (one of which is the included spell)... magic itself will vary from character to character, however, as their own perception of the spell will effect how it works.

an example of the ranking system: Flame Pulse (I, II, III) -> Flame Wave (I, II, III) -> Flame Blast (I, II, III)
