Name:"Marucs", although some of the Southern Mountain tribes know him as "The Recluse" Age: 20 Gender: Male Faction/Allegiance: Marcus Relic Description: Sang Min His relic is a small but beautifully crafted knife, named Sang Min. It is an antique heirloom, passed down from father to son as far as time itself can remember. Its age shows slightly in a few blemishes on the blade, but considering its age, the weapon is in a remarkable condition, which shows in the fact that the engravings look recently forged Sang Min grants its Evoker enhanced fighting abilities. However, there are a few flaws. Skills with any blade or weapon but Sang Min aren't enhanced, neither are martial combat skills and using its power costs the evoker stamina. Moreover, the enhancement only works as long as its wielder is holding Sang Min. It is rumored to have far greater power, but this is the only power Marcus has discovered thus far. Appearance: Marcus has a rather slim, sinewy built, dark brown hair and striking dark brown eyes that verge on onyx. He prefers to keep on the cloth covering the lower half of his face at all times - except when eating and drinking of course- as well as his mantle and cowl. Flaws: The Odd Man out - Marcus hasn't adapted to the Othean culture whatsoever, despite living in Othea for four years now. The only things he learened about Othea, were moreover told by wandering merchants, minstrels and the people of the Southern Mountains (who are generally seen as bumpkins by the rest of Othea). This will always make him stand out in crowds unless there are a variety of nationalities present. (His typical Da-Hyuni clothes, accent and odd curses don't help all that much with this problem either.) The "Different Morals" and "Foreign Religion" flaws also add to this one. Average - He has a lot to learn about swordsmanship as well as archery and he can't call himself a master of anything as of yet. He also has little to no knowledge of relics, including his own, with the exception of legends passed on by his ancestors. Different morals - Being a Da-Hyuni, Marcus has a whole different set of morals and values than most Otheans. For example, the concept of 'fair play' in either sword fighting, gambling or any other activity, is generally perceived to be both 'inefficient' and 'weak' in Da-Hyun. Foreign religion - Marcus is an extremely religious follower of 'The Nine'. Due to this, he has to make sure that he follows a certain strict set of religious rules and amongst other things, he has to make sure that his body is cremated in either a lake or at sea. (Also, being obliged to offer food to your gods isn't such a great plan when you're already running low on provisions.) Skills: Average warrior - Marcus has been trained by several of his father's retainers to be an averagely skilled swordsman and archer, as he would become his succesor one day. Years of being a huntsman has made him into a fine archer, though nowhere near the level of the legendary Kalnachi Longbowmen. Skills of the Wild- He's good with animals and possesses a variety of outdoor skills, meaning that he can build a makeshift shelter, repairs and makes his own clothes, he's skilled in skinning animals and knows which plants are edible and which are not in forested areas. Educated- Due to his (ex-)noble background, Marcus has enjoyed a well-round education. He's able to read and write, plays two instruments and speaks both the common language and various dialects fluently. However, the little practice in the last five years have left these skills rather rusty. Biography: Twenty years ago, Marcus was born as the only son into the family of a high nobleman (Saeng) in Da-Hyun, a country of Isles to the west of Azukhar. He grew up in wealth together with his two elder sisters and father. He was polished and groomed to become his father's successor but lived in the blessed unawareness of his father's intrigues at court. That all came to an end, a few weeks before Marcus would have become fifteen years old (generally seen as the age at which one becomes an adult in Da-Hyun). One day, without any sign beforehand, he returned to the family's estate to find his father and older sisters brutally murdered with Sang Min. Since Marcus was the one to find them, and moreover the only heir and thus the only one allowed to touch the blade besides his father, the finger of blame soon pointed his way. Marcus barely managed to escape Da-Hyun with his life and Sang Ming, with which he had felt a strange sort of bond ever since he had pulled it from his father's chest. After that, he lived his life as an exile, avoiding human settlements when possible as he travelled from kingdom to kingdom. Only when he encountered the great Karak Claw Mountains, did he halt his journey. Finding himself in Othea, Marcus decided that this place was far enough from his homeland to make any pursuers halt their chase. Since then he has lived in the Southern Mountains. He currently makes his living by hunting, selling hides, home-made clothes and trinkets to the locals, in exchange for tools and food. He has sometimes crossed the King's grounds at the risk being caught and losing a hand or at least a large sum of money. However, up until this point it seems like the king has enough game not to take any notice of a certain poacher. Rumours about Da-Hyuni diplomats visiting the capitol for the upcoming festival, have led Marcus to find his way from the wilds to the capital for the first time in three long years. Personality/motivation: Marcus is a rather calm person, who generally prefers silence over company. He won't tell just anyone about his past and he tends to be a slightly mistrusting towards strangers (like all Da-Hyunin). It's really hard to make him angry, with the exception of commenting on his feminine appearance. That is usually enough to make steam come out of his ears. Presently, only the idea of returning to Da-Hyun one day to take revenge on the murderers of his family really gives him a goal in life. He's a rather curious person and if fate had decided differently, he might have become a scholar instead of a exile. Relations: Sworn Enemy: All Da-Hyuni nobility. Final Point - Secrets: Besides the obvious (and intended) gap in his history concerning how, why and by whom his family was murdered, Marcus carries another, older secret with him. [Which is completely lore-friendly so I'm not sharing it with my fellow gms :p] Theme Song:
Edit:
I am unreasonably excited for this.
I know right! ^_^ Also, I really like Leander's cs. I honestly can't wait before we start the IC haha.
