Figure it's more of just Neo's fighting style. She's an illusionist, a trickster and it shows. Guess carefully applied force is the way to beat Yang instead of overwhelming. I assume there's a certain threshold at where Yang powers up fast enough to overcome any damage she might take, and Neo was just under it.
