I've only gotten to play a little of one of the dot hack games, courtesy of a friend and he also gave me a season of the anime... So, my knowledge is limited but I did LOVE what little of the game I got to see and enjoyed the anime very much. I don't suppose you'd take on someone who might need a little help with the lore? This is what little I know:

dot.hack// is a popular game set up to be a sort of virtual world where players actually get to step into their characters shoes with the help of nifty new tech. Unfortunately, (in the anime I got to see) some people tend to get stuck inside and are unable to get back out. It plays like most online multiplayer games... There are Moderators, Admins, Summoners, Rogues, Warriors, and all those other classes you usually would find. There are dungeons you play through but the world is basically free roam with monsters lingering about...

Do I have the important bits and is my knowledge off, it has been a while?
