A "Shade" is a monster born from the darkest "depths" of darkness. They normally look like a panther, but have many other forms. 

Shades are, basically, a living, evil aftereffect of the event that left our characters with thier special powers. Kangoku controls legions of them, and they (the Shades) are very hard to defeat.
