He didn't have a liking for killing living creatures, but as long as he had his ship and was on the winning side, it didn't matter. To be brutally honest, he didn't have a care for the Empires ideals or goals, this was something he actually told Lord Vader in a very short meeting with. Lord Vader sensed it about him, and Herald spoke the truth as it was all he could do. However, he had honest intentions, and the Rebels would never be able to offer him such a position. While in the Empire he had riches, looked amazing, had a ship, a crew, command of loyal soldiers, and he could almost do whatever he wanted. All in exchange for using his masterful tactic abilities for the Empire. A little final remark he gave the Lord, "And, you know... Imperial does sound entirely better than being a Rebel." I doubt you would get away with saying that to Vader, and I don't see why you would have even met him. We got that you signed up as you wanted to do something, but what about a little more background about your actual service?
