So I wrote a sonnet and then bed, ned Streaking through the air on glis'ning drops Colours stripe but blend in complex charm The rain attempts once more to so disarm And here succeeds, our apathy thence stops Wherefore the secret pools of rainbow burst To melt the frigid depths and make us dear Even with such simple methods mere Breaking through our fortress how it durst It splits the sky, this splendid work of art A perfect form of beauty in an arch A million different colours there converge In seven parts of heart and pretty tart Nature shines with beauty unsurpassed A thousand years and more shall it outlast.
