The man seems to take the beam, the holy energy sorta just bouncing off of him.
"Light...rotten light.....It has no power over me anymore." the cloaked man says. The creature emerges from the sludge, the girl's shirt collar in its mouth, the little girl coughing and such as she takes in some deep breaths. 
"Bah....young vermin....All that which used me...so foul..." He growls, the cloaked man shaking, twitching. It's obvious he isn't to stable.
