I see your point but I don't quite agree. I think of Valentine's as more of a reminder to those less romantically inclined to do those nice things for their SO. Some people take it to the extreme, but in the end it is a day to reflect on the person you're sharing your life with. Sort of like Christmas or Thanksgiving, those holidays remind us about being appreciative of friends and family and of giving but those are things we should always remember.
