Name: Hikaru Akira Age: 26 (05-05-1957) Bio: Hikaru is a small, just about 1,65cm, athletic Japanese woman with black, but blue-tinted hair, just barely short enough to pass the army regulations. Her grandparents moved out of Japan to the UK just as Japan was about to declare war and were lucky enough to become British citizens. As a daughter of two clearly Japanese families Hikaru was also taught the importance of their culture and accordingly raised. However, it was soon clear that Hikaru didn't plan on being a housewife at all. From her school life on, she was always the terror of the hallways, even bullying bigger, older and considerably stronger boys. At the time she was about to graduate, a member of the Akira family brought shame upon the family's name. Raised in the culture of the old Empire of Japan, Hikaru saw only one way to restore the lost honour. So right after graduation she joined the military. Of course, at that time, women weren't allowed into the main force, nevertheless driving tanks. However, when the higher-ups saw that one of their most skilled recruits was actually a Japanese girl, they quickly silenced the gossip and media allowing her to be part of the regular troops. Hikaru quickly rose in ranks and as of early 1983, she was promoted to Corporal and given the command over a Chieftain Mk. 11 and its crew. When the 1st Armoured Division was ordered to be based in the FRG, she had already dubbed her tank "meiyo" (名誉) meaning "honour, prestige".
