Yeah you would need mangekyo sharingan. Itachi only had it cause it was one of the powers he awakened when he gained it. Not everyone gets the same magelyo sharingan powers or designs lol. 
Also, based on the end, I don't think Sasuke is allowed in the village. So jerkin would probably need to visit him outside of the village. Although for a while he would have been travelling the world and helping people to atone for his sins. I think that's what he wanted to do... XD
