So, questions to you all: do any of you use any literary devices in regards to your posts and your characters? Such as symbolism and literary parallels/mirroring, anything in regards to foreshadowing a character's journey, using abstract devices to clue people in on their state of mind without actually telling the audience (us) that they're actually kind of going batshit crazy? Or maybe allusions that hint at a character's situation, future, or path of character development, if say Emily were alluded to (This is totally random and has nothing to do with Em's crazy adventure through her psyche) Dontes from The Count of Monte Cristo, where her journey is very similar to his, regardless of whether or not she follows it to a T in the physical world (i.e. a mental prison of her own making rather than being actually thrown into isolation on some fucking island in the middle of nowhere). As well as certain tropes that pertain to situations that characters cross rather than the actual makings of a character, though I assume those can be incorporated whilst writing the story, as well. I dunno, the thought just occurred to me and I myself have never attempted such a thing before in an RP because I'm not that good of a writer to incorporate them well enough in my own posts. It might also have to do with the extreme fluidity of roleplays and how it's pretty much a story crafted together by numerous people. *Le Shrug* I assumed you guys may have more input on that, regardless of whether or not you use any weird literary devices and tropes and all that fun stuff. Just to get a conversation going and because I'm genuinely interested in what you guys have to say about it. :o
