The Beast is basically a bomb meant to destroy whatever he comes across. But he isn't dead. Remember, he's done this before. when he absorbs powers he just builds the bombs destructive power, and when he goes off he just releases that power. But he is still alive. Made of the ash and fire and rubble of the destruction he wrought, he comes back minus all the powers he had. He starts again as a clean slate
