[hider=Move Over Doctor Who...] Name: Vecatrius Titles: Lord of Time, Emissary of Fate, The Binding One, The Ruler of Cogs, First Chronomancer, Grandfather Goal: Vecatrius plays a seemingly passive role in the realm of Gods as he maintains Time. What the other gods may not be aware is of his temporal meddling towards a rather terrifying goal. Vecatrius is the ultimate control freak, a god with a god complex, as he seeks to enforce Fate and yet overthrow Fate in favor of his own design. Thus while he may seem as a neutral and uncaring watchman of Time, he has long since been corrupted in his reasoning and has begun to make small move towards accomplishing his goals. Domain: Time, Fate, Prophecy, Memory, Machines, Control Symbol: An hourglass wrapped in chains and filled with gears and cogs in lieu of sand. Appearance: [hider2=Vecatrius] [IMG]http://i.imgur.com/tR1Kg4I.png[/IMG] [/hider2] Artifacts: The Clockwork Sphere: A small metal ball which opens up its plated shell to reveal clockwork mechanisms so intricate and complex, not even the gods dare attempt to decipher what exactly does the chromosphere do nor has Vecatrius been documented to use it but rather give the items to his Chosen mortals. Vecatrius has hinted it to be the heart of time, or perhaps his own heart. Though ultimately, it is the “egg” of the next reality which will convert its most current holder into the next reality’s Vecatrius. Territory: Territory for the God of Time is not a matter of where, but when. Though he may lay claim to all time, and has dwelt in time, Vecatrius holds a single city yet due to the nature of his domain, the single city is in fact three separate cities fractured in different times as they float in and out of time itself. The rare and occasional visitors would find themselves easily lost in the ever-shifting nature of the three cities, as time holds no meaning and walking half a block would easily send travellers forward or back in time relative to their original location at random. All visitors must return into the proper city and timeline before leaving the bounds of the cities else be hunted down by the enforcers of the cities. [hider2=Agartha] Agartha: The Oldest city of the three, it is an ancient subterranean city buried deep within the earth. There buildings are made of stone and earth, utterly darkened in the depths and labyrinthine. The Native citizens of Agartha are former humans that adapted to their environment, their utterly smooth skin and hair losing all pigmentation, and created a luminescent particles flowing within their blood as their cat-like eyes capture their glow. Citizens of Agartha usually wear thin, often-translucent clothing made from paper which allow them to cope with the sunlight of Avalon and disintegrate when exposed the waters which flooded most of the city. The city itself is designed concentrically, with rising levels of earth as one approaches the center which occurred naturally as mining operations expanded deeper and wider from the outskirts of the city. The major “export” of the old city is ores and fossil fuels, which are used by Avalon and Atlantis, another product Agartha produces is Saquartz: a rare fragment of crystallized time. [/hider2] [hider2=Avalon] Avalon: The Current city of the three, a modern city formed when the earth below Agartha broke the surface beneath a lake flooded the most of the old city and opened it to the world above. Avalon exists as a city emerging from a lake. The city has built itself upon the ruins of central Agartha, designed with a renaissance style, of glorious arches, pillars and domes as splendor and glory of the city upon a lake captures the morning sun and evening moon. The Native citizens of Avalon resemble the average human, however they are generally paler and have larger eyes in comparison. They tend to wear a variety of clothing, with the change of the seasons within Avalon and its lake weather. The city resembles most contemporary cities, though perhaps more advanced due to the technologies it possess from researching the Saquartz found in the ruins of Agartha. The major “export” of the middle city is food created by artificial plots of farmlands that feeds the majority of the three cities. Avalon also serves as the major trading hub between the three cities and the rest of the world who would attempt to glean the riches of the past and future. [/hider2] [hider2=Atlantis] Atlantis: The Newest city of the three, it is the future city that exists beneath the lake that had encircled Avalon. Atlantis formed with the foundations of Agartha sitting beneath Avalon broke and sank the city beneath the waters. The futuristic design of the city creates an energy field around the city to prevent it from being completely engulfed by the lake. There are few native citizens in Atlantis, the city is most ran by complex machines which have taken control of the majority of the organic population by harnessing their neural interfaces into the central command interface. The few begins with free will remaining are often the elite in society, being technomancers or chronomancers who wear impressive mechanical suits and have replaced their organics with mechanics. The major “export” of the future city is technology ranging from intricate vessels of transportation to weaponry to appliances. [/hider2] The sole unchanging portion of the triple cities is the Chronotempris: an anachronomalous feature located in the heart of each city. It contains the three most important functions of the city, the Hall of Records, the Chamber of Prophecies and the Tower of Time. The architecture of the building itself is a composite mixture of the time periods, featuring great domed arches of stone and pyramid-like rooftops alongside towering spires, sweeping spirals and glowing spheres. A central spire holds Vecatrius’ resting place and the warp in time which he presides over. Here within the Chronotempris there exists the strange biomechanical entities Vecatrius has created as his servitors. Forged from the energies of futures lost to fate denied, they are his agents. [hider2= Keeper, Speaker, Watcher] [IMG]http://i.imgur.com/SZHp44j.jpg[/IMG] [/hider2] The Keepers: These deaf humanoids serve as the Time God’s warriors. They are guardians and defenders who protect Vecatrius, Time and the triple cities from harm. They are unable to listen to commands ensuring they will not follow any orders other than their directive to defend. These are found throughout the Three Cities and congregate in the Tower of Time. The Speakers: These blind humanoids serve as the Time God’s priests. They are prophets and seers who hear the commands of their Lord and in turn speak of his prophecies. They are unable to see their world or their Lord, such that they are not tempted to act upon the prophecies they hear. These are often found in the Chamber of Prophecies. The Watchers: These mute humanoids serve as the Time God’s scholars. They are historians and observers who see and hear the events of the world. They cannot speak to interject their thoughts into their records, offering only unbiased examinations of the world around them. These are often found in the Hall of Records [hider2=Powers] Twilight: Quantum Displacement. A God of Time amongst other timeless beings, Vecatrius would seem unable to touch the gods and cosmic affairs themselves; however, he may control the flow of time over a given space as he pleases. He can alter the rates at which time progresses, making a minute last centuries, or centuries last a mere minute. Furthermore, he is able to step into the time himself, along with any other entities he takes along with him, and appear whenever he so pleases with or without altering the events within the course of time. While he cannot stop the entire force of time, nor would he, he can continue to send himself forward or back in time to make any adjustments needed should something attempt to manipulate his element. Dawn: Unspoken Inevitability As the God of Prophecy and Fate, Vecatrius has seen what will be, albeit other cosmic entities or powerful individuals may interfere with the future as they seek, with this ability, he may bind entities to their immediate future as earlier foreseen. Thus rendering the entity assured to a certain predicted destiny. Another adequately powerful being can interfere with this power and unbind the selected entity, however doing so leaves a void which must be fulfilled by another entity. If no such entity is willing to replace the unbound entity, then a new entity of retribution will be created out of the destroyed Future to serve Vecatrius for all time as one of this Three Servitors. However, every so often, a Servitor does not appear, and thus a Chosen is produced instead from the being who was originally bound to Fate. Dusk: Forbidden Secrets There are things which should not be known by the waking world, records which should not exist. By manipulating the events in time, Vecatrius can erase memories and records by having influenced their past. This aspect of Vecatrius is perhaps his darkest, in altering the past to remove knowledge; he acts to preserve the secrecy of his Domains. Thus, even if someone had just seen or heard something moments ago, Vecatrius can reach into the waters of time and remove that moment from existence. The ledger of all these censored events exists within the Hall of Records. Midnight: Grand Apotheosis Vecatrius does not draw his power from worship or followers alone, but also from the very essence of time itself. Though worshiping and following him is a strange concept given to the God of Fate and Control as one could argue anyone following Fate contributes to a portion of his power, yet the bulk of it remains through the channeled obedience of his Keepers, Watchers, and Speakers. His other followers include seers and diviners, scholars who would scry the future or study the past, tinkers and inventors who offer their short prayers for a vision of the future, monks of the Order of Hours who take discipleship underneath a Speaker, and chronomancers and technomancers from the far future. Time in itself is a force of the universe, and he is considered a "God of the Universe" rather than a "God of Humanity.” As God of Time, he stands amidst the astral waves of time, existing as one being in past, present and future directing the flow of time and serving as its arbiter in temporal affairs. As such, he has already experienced the future, and ensures the present remains on course towards the future he had already experienced in his relative past. Thrice-lived, Vecatrius is primarily unconcerned with the dealings of humanity unless their fates are intertwined with shaping the future as the Chosen are who receive his blessings of freedom from Fate and Time. The Chosen created from Dawn are severed from Fate and Time, and yet are granted a portion of Vecatrius’ powers of prophecy and but also bind them to his will. They are given the illusion of free will, yet are unwittingly his agents as well as they become slaves to Fate over Time through the disturbing prophecies they receive. Moreover, since they are being who can alter the course of Fate, their attempts to change their visions align with the Grand Design of Vecatrius who seeks to control Fate itself. [/hider2] Origin/Background Before time, there was Vecatrius, at time there was Vecatrius and after time, there was Vecatrius. There always was Vecatrius, and never was Vecatrius. His existence was, is and will be, a being which was not born nor created, but merely existed indefinitely. None can explain his origin, as even he cannot remember his first memory, and memories are his domain. Whispers may say he never existed in the first place, or perhaps that he had influenced his own creation, and others speculate he is the last survivor of the reality before ours. Or perhaps he is but a tool for a servant of an even greater power which had grown a sentience. Godly Relations Vecatrius tries to maintain a neutral relationship with the rest of the cosmic pantheon. While he is disinterested in their dealings, he does have some relations with the other Gods who represent the more abstract concepts: Secrets, Death, Order, Chaos, and Knowledge. Often times his will forces itself into their domains, at which begins the politics of the divine. [/hider]
