He doesn’t care much for theories and thinking, preferring to settle in the security of reality. He finds brainstormers annoying. Why think about something when you can do something? Coupled with a loud mouth and a terrible case of social ineptness, Firestorm often comes into conflict with the more serious and quite members of the Autobots. However, normally he’ll avoid the more serious members in favor of hanging out with beings who suit his personality better. He doesn't care much about politics, and could care less about the war. However, this doesn't keep him from fighting. He is a thrill seeker, and will jump head on into danger with little regard for the objective or his own safety. Coupled with his terrible combat skills, he frequently comes very close to being rendered offline. It’s only his durability that keeps him in the land of the living. He’s known to take more damage than some of the toughest cybertronians, yet still bounce back and continue the fight. He has been shot down so many times that he hasn't even bothered to count them anymore. His skills focus solely on charging straight into the fight and shooting everything that has a Decepticon symbol on it. He often has no grasp of plans or anything long-term, which gets him in quite a bit of trouble with his superiors. Despite his carefree attitude, Firestorm is very sensitive about his flying skills. His insecurity is fueled by an envy of the Decepticon aces, who he looked up to for a time. He habitually beats himself up over this issue, commonly saying he could have flown better. Of course, that's in a way true. He isn't much of a dogfighter, preferring to fly in a straight line while unleashing salvos of missiles from long distance.

Firestorm wasn’t always an Autobot. Originally, he was a new recruit for the Decepticon air forces. He joined the ‘cons because he idolized the Decepticon Aces. He his dream was to serve under Starscream and become a Decepticon ace as well. However, it was not to be. He was a terrible flyer, often being shot down more than could be counted. He was equally terrible fighting on the ground, sometimes coming very close to being terminated. He was constantly teased and lectured for his terrible skills. This led him to develop quite the inferiority complex, mostly surrounding his flying skills. Eventually the atmosphere became too much for him, and he deserted for the Autobots. With very few fliers in the Autobot forces, he quickly found himself becoming much more content. There was also much less taunting, which helped him deal with his inferiority complex. Although not entirely gone, he since became much more sure of himself and his skills. He has become quite the loyal Autobot, despite his slight issues with following orders. He's flown many missions, most of them focused on aerial reconnaissance on Decepticon activities. However, he has also taken part in many aerial battles, as backup to the other fliers of the Autobot air forces.
