Name: Jacqueline Hammer (Usually just goes by Jack, will begrudgingly tolerate Jackie) Age: 28 Gender: Female Appearance: Before conversion Her MEC suit (obviously not her in that, just a suit ref) And for contrast, a modern MEC suit Personality: Jacqueline is a loud individual who completely lacks a poker face. She doesn't have the best education, but has learned some basic math and engineering just as a necessity due to her modified body. She's generally fairly friendly, and unfortunately for those around her she doesn't have much sense of personal space. Her behavior in the crew would never have been permitted in her old military company—she doesn't seem to really respect the captain all that much, likely due to her age. She'll follow orders and such, but she'll listen to her own experience first and foremost. This has caused some disagreements in the past, especially in regards to the use of lethal force in some situations. Jack is a soldier and will neutralize a target if she feels it's the most prudent course of action, something that has caused a lot of tension with the captain at times. However, the fact that she doesn't do this frequently but only in cases where it honestly was the most sensible course of action has meant that the resulting arguments usually aren't TOO bad. Skills: Jack is someone you want on your side in a fight. A capable soldier even before her conversion, her augmentations have left her capable of fairly easily punching through stone walls. She's a decent shot with a gun, as stabilizers in her suit generally assist her aim, but her real advantage in that regard is that she can carry weapons simply too large for anyone else, which while helpful in a firefight is also fantastic as an intimidation technique. Her mass comes with some tradeoffs though, namely that she's an easy target in a firefight and sometimes has a hard time fitting through doors. She also weighs as much as a mid-sized car. Her suit offers numerous other tools and devices, one of the more notable ones being a suite of features that allows her to seal the suit and survive in a vacuum. Due to the air scrubbers, she would die of thirst or hunger before running out of air. Jump jets also allow her to move around in zero gravity, as well as jump up and down from high platforms in regular gravity. Equipment: Her Mech suit, which has really seen better days and currently has a lot of improvised repairs. It's also an older model, if she had one of the more modern ones she would in theory be much stronger. She also has an old chaingun that's been slightly modified for her suit to be able to hold, though she doesn't use it too much. Since it relies on ballistics, many modern shields simply deflect it, though the rapid fire means it can be good for overworking cheaper shields and causing them to burn out. Brief Backstory: Jacqueline joined a military company nearly as soon as she came of age. She proved to be a capable warrior, and when the cost of MEC suits came within reach of her unit, she was one of the ones who chose to undergo the amputation and augmentation process to become able to use them. Sadly, only a couple of years later legislation was passed that made it illegal for MEC troopers to be employed by private military units. As a result, Jack and the other MEC troopers were relieved of duty. Not wanting to join an official military company but possessing a specialized skillset, she had few options other than searching out an employer willing to operate outside the law. She found such a person in Captain Yuriko. Yuriko supplies her with chances to make a living, and Jack supplies her captain with an extremely effective tool for intimidation, as well as all the loot-hauling power of a forklift. Position in Crew: Heavy lifter / front-line combatant. She often hangs out in the mechanic's bay, since her ability to lift massively heavy engines comes in useful for the crew there. Also, the roof is high enough that she doesn't have to crouch. In less peaceful times, she's often the first one into the breach, her massive frame providing cover for her allies.
