As a genin id think not. Plus there isnt really a way to negate all physical attacks. Thatd be too op in my eyes.

Perhaps one should suggest changing the name of fire bending as it doesn't quite seem to be as versatile. The name leads to miss understanding. If its limited to punches and the daggers then perhaps it should simply be referred to as flame generation. Maybe it could be described that rather than creating fire, it actually focuses the scorch style chakra into flames by heating the air around the gloves. It makes much more sense to me and sounds signifcantly less intimidating, and much more naruto than avatar.
