@Primal Conundrum: I'm sorry, but, um... well, for one thing, I think that making it so mecha require the pilot to amputate their limbs is both far too dark and doesn't really make much in the way of sense. Also, clashing with Yuriko's viewpoints is all well and good, but actively killing people when it's not in self-defense when they're actively posing a threat is a good way to get kicked off of the crew as close to the nearest UEGSC enforcement office as possible.
Just going to address these point by point, and if you still disagree after then that's fine, just want to clarify some things is all in case it improves your opinion. In regards to amputation, she's basically a big cyborg really, if you'd rather think of it that way. The only reason that it's not an exo-suit is that it's larger in frame, but not so large that a human could sit inside it like an anime mecha. The arms and legs are located in a sort of middle distance, and doing it this way allows her to have direct biological control over the suit like it was her own body. Really, she's just a big cyborg. The only time where she'd even be seen outside the suit is if she was transferring to a new suit, and even then that would probably be a behind the scenes thing since I don't really want to dwell on amputation either. I mean heck, Cyborg from Teen Titans has lost most of his body, but that's not dwelled on. Everyone considers his machine parts to just be a normal part of who he is. That's kinda what I'd be going for. As far as killing people, I don't mean that she does so casually, but like if there's an enemy they've run into a few times who keeps coming back to be a threat, she'll try to put him down, or if there's someone that she honestly believes there is no other way to stop being a threat. She doesn't do so casually, and I'm kinda hoping that the arguments about it with the captain will make Jack even more reluctant to use lethal force, over time. She doesn't kill for fun or anything, only when she feels that it's absolutely necessary. The only thing that I meant is that she might feel it's absolutely necessary in cases where the captain might not. They would still be fairly extreme cases to go that far, however. If you still feel that she's too much of a bad fit, I'll respect that and withdraw.
