Name: Dullahan Everpyre Race: Elven Age: 36 Appearance: "Tradition remains for a reason. You would be wise not to end up in my condition." Personality: An elf worthy of the Everpyre name, Dullahan is wise and gentle towards those who seek lore and knowledge, and as a traveling storyteller and carrier of the ever-lit Blackfire Torch, seeks to give knowledge upon all who seek it. Though particularly spiteful towards hunters who hunt to kill instead of hunting to study and admire, he has a enormous respect for those who survive the hunt. This does not mean he's very kind or polite towards them, but he does have acknowledge their existence. His beliefs and traditions greatly influence his actions, though, and will first look to this before making any sort of decision. Skills/Abilities: There is a defined fighting style used by the wielder of the Blackfire Torch, simplified into 3 words: Slash and Burn. Dullahan makes use of long range magical slash attacks and bolts of a variation of phoenix fire, named Blackfire, after the torch and the flames which stoke the Torch. The flames do have limitations, as the flames have a lifespan and die out, but after a day or so or recharging it, the flames rekindle. Equipment: Blackfire Torch - This flaming rod is a magical artifact imbued with the power of a legendary black phoenix known as the Scarecrow, who the Everpyre have killed and drained it of its essence as an initiation into the Everpyre Hunters for ages. The ebony flames from this powerful weapon are extremely hot and can cause very severe burns, but it does not effect anything other than monsters. It does however have the ability to magically slash at enemies from afar without ever letting go of the Torch, increasing its versatility and utility in many combat situations. It's also a torch. What do torches do best? Brief Backstory: The tale of the Everpyre family of hunters dates back when the Hunt began, and ever since, they have acted as guides for many hunters inexperienced within the ways of monster classification and monster weaknesses. To become a hunter in House Everpyre, a father must take their oldest son and bring them to the lair of the ebon phoenix known as the Scarecrow, bestow upon them the Blackfire Torch, unlit, and leave them to complete the ritual to recharge the weapon of the dark essence. Before the final step, the bird has yet to emerge from its rest, which gives the young Everpyre time to rest and prepare themselves. In 12-year old Dullahan's case, that wasn't what happened. Upon receiving the Torch, the Scarecrow burst forth from its egg and laid upon the young man a heavy stream of black flames. As damaging as it was to the Everpyre, it allowed him to absorb the Scarecrow's power and use it against itself, defeating the bird, leaving it to rebirth in its next cycle. Though heavily scarred, his will and drive were forged as strong as steel under the flames of the phoenix, and uses his own experience as a prime example of the need for preparedness.
