Do we have to specify where a character is from, as in by region? If so, does the region have to be canon? Or perhaps we could instead specify where they're from in relation to another region (example: "southwest of Kalos")?

I'm working on a character sheet and I have a good idea of where my character would be from if it were the real world, but there's no name for this place in the Pokemon world, so...

Also, if someone working on their CS is too late and everyone has already left the harbor and begun the journey by the time that person is done, how will they be introduced into the RP?
