Gerald watched as the reinforcements - or invigilators; he wasn't sure which - finally arrived. Watching as the airship arrived and Ozpin made his speech, Gerald kept one hand on Anwarter at all times - twice he had been caught off guard, and he resolved to make sure there would never be a third time. It was only as Ozpin beckoned for them to enter the airship and Gerald made the few metallic steps on board, becoming surrounded by at least a few inches of metal armour between himself and the Grimm infested forest that the finally relaxed his grip on Anwarter. His first encounter with the Grimm were over. --- As Gerald overheard Ozpin talk to Schwarz about Coral's actions - and even worse yet, the fact that somebody's partner had died - he faced an immediate wave of guilt. Coral had ambushed Michelle and she nearly got dragged off by an Arachnid Grimm while Gerald was dozing off and picking up a weapon. What was this he was experiencing? Guilt? Guilt that he had let someone down? This was a strange concept to him; after all the only person he had ever held expectations for prior to this was himself. Turning to Michelle, Gerald struggled to find the right wording. "Michelle, I..." Breaking for a moment, the teen finally bowed his head. "I'm sorry!' He apologized. "I was your partner and I should have had your back, but instead I let you get ambushed twice - granted, the first time I had no way of knowing Coral could turn invisible or that she would even attack you like that, but me letting the Arachnid nearly drag you away was inexcusable! I - I won't let it happen again, I promise!"
