Been interested for a while, just wanted to decide on a character first.

Full name: Jaime Reyes

Alias: Blue Beetle

Jaime comes from a family that left Mexico to live in El Paso, Texas. The Reyes made a modest living, Jaime's father Alberto owned an auto garage while his mother Bianca was a paramedic. Childhood was pretty standard for Jaime and his sister Milagro. They went to an okay school, attended church, and made friends, in Jaime's case Paco and Brenda. As he got older Jaime asked to help out at the garage, as his father had back issues, but Alberto said that Jaime was still young and needed to have fun while he can.

This average life was stopped when a group of super-villains attacked the local Kord Industries Building as Jaime and Paco were walking by. An explosion knocked out Paco and as Jaime tried to help him something attached itself to his spine. The next thing Jaime knew he transformed into a blue armoured form. The super-villains took notice of him and attacked. Without thinking Jaime was able to fire blasts at them, forcing them back. He then grabbed Paco and started to run, when out of nowhere wings came out of his back and he started to fly. He dropped Paco off at his home before being confronted by super-hero Booster Gold. Booster was looking for the scarab, the thing on Jaime's back, as it belonged to his deceased friend Ted Kord, the previous Blue Beetle. Booster wanted to take the scarab but Jaime proves himself after they are attacked by the super-villains.

For the next several months Jaime fought crime as the new Blue Beetle. He earned himself antagonists such as the Posse and La Dama. In time he revealed his secret to his parents, Paco, and Brenda. Eventually he learned that La Dama was Brenda's aunt and she learned his identity. Following this they formed a reluctant truce. Booster Gold ended up recommending Jaime to Batman for membership in the Teen Titans. Before he could join though the hero Peacemaker tracked down Jaime that the scarab was actually a piece of alien technology with its own agenda.

Jaime's powers come from the scarab, a piece of alien technology. The scarab is sentient and thus can communicate telepathically with Jaime and sometimes take control if it can overpower Jaime's will. The scarab can also talk telepathically to other scarabs, provided they haven't found a host yet.
The scarab can also:
- Translate any language.
- Scan and track energy and can tell if someone is a metahuman, mutant, alien, etc.
- Connect to information networks through telepathy.
- Conceal itself from modern sensors. Futuristic or alien sensors can detect him.
- Heal damage done to the host.
The scarab can also create a blue and black armour around the host.
The armour can:
- Increase the host's strength, durability, and agility.
- Sustain the host in any environment, including space and the time stream.
- Reconfigure into tools and weapons, most commonly a mallet, blade, or shield.
- Create wings which allow flight and can double as shields.
- Create energy of different make-ups and fire them.

Personality: Jaime seems to be an average guy who was drawn into something. Before the scarab his most pressing matters were fitting in and getting that pretty girl to talk to him. Still he genuinely cared and was a good friend and pillar in his family. He still is those things but now feels the need to help those besides his family and friends. He still freaks out in dangerous situations, during which time the scarab will take over. On the topic of the scarab Jaime and it have a testy relationship. When he just started as Blue Beetle the scarab would take control usually and use excessive force. Over time Jaime has managed to change its personality, becoming less impulsive and less violent. Still the two always bicker, as having two minds use one body is not an easy situation.

He's starting to sport some black facial hair, which currently is more scraggly than anything. Still he keeps himself looking good with nice clothes, usually a dress shirt, jeans and comfy shoes. Affiliations: Alberto, Bianca, and Milagro Reyes: Jaime's family. His parents know that he is Blue Beetle.
Paco Testas and Brenda Del Vecchio: Jaime's best friends. They know he's Blue Beetle.
La Dama: Big time crime lord and Brenda's aunt. Knows his secret identity.
The Posse: A local gang of metahumans he's run into several times.
Booster Gold: Time travelling super-hero and friend of Ted Kord, the previous Blue Beetle. Has slowly started to accept Jaime and recommended him for the Teen Titans.
Khaji Da: The scarab attached to Jaime. Initially was very violent but has become more calm in recent days.

Notes: This Jaime has not learned about the Reach yet and has only been told that the scarab is extraterrestrial in origin.
