Rex set the can aside and stepped over the girl to crouch at her other side, touching the back of his hand to her forehead. The skin was hot and clammy and he would hate to be in such skin right now- surely burning up. “You’re sick.” He fished a bottle of water from his pack and dumped a portion of the cool liquid over her head, seeking a reaction before shoving the remainder at her. “You need to stay hydrated. It’ll make you feel better.” He slurped down a few of the green beans and then stood to his feet- stepping between the dusty racks and slipping on one of the old coats. Then tossed another onto Cassie “and stay warm“. He glanced toward the door wanting to seek more water but given what happened last time he left her by herself he decided then to remain diligent. “Get some rest Cassie. I’ll keep watch.”
