Well, we don't exactly have magic or monsters either, and yet here we are, in a town surrounded by monster dens and with several spellcasters, non-human sentients and people with enchanted weaponry. You didn't seem to have a problem with the swordgunsickle and that didn't really look magical or even use magic to explain how such a weapon can function effectively.
