She is always willing to put others before herself both in terms of well being and social stature and she politely converses with whomever she encounters. Asuka doesn't hesitate once to put herself in harm's way to protect others and eagerly offers her services to anyone in need, despite the danger. Often times, she tries to quell a volatile situation with her wise and calming words before having to resort to using her sword. However, despite her calm demeanor, there is a darker, more violent side of Asuka that appears imminently in the heat of battle, a curse upon her from her days long past as one of the most ruthless samurai of the early period. Her skill with a katana is unmatched by even the most powerful of swordsmen, yet those she has slain in battle have weighed painfully on her heart with melancholy and guilt. She is a woman of simple desires, and takes an accute pleasure in the finer things life has to offer, such as a bright spring morning or the laughter of children playing in the fields or the sweet scent of cherry blossoms being carried upon the wind. All Asuka could ask for is a simple life, a place where she can rest her sword finally and let time pass without a single care. Until then, she roams forever with her sword to her side and only her thoughts for company. History: Born to peasants in a snowbound village, the young girl was no stranger to violence. Her village was in the thick of the chaos of war, having started as an outpost for the Daimyo's samurai and constantly being the victim of several raids by bandits. It was in one of these raids that Asuka lost her family to a bastard's sword. Orphaned, she fled her village before any harm could come to her, lost forever in the unforgiving winters of her homeland. She struggled to stay alive for what seemed nearly five or six months hunting small game for nourishment and gathering wood for fires, yet still having to brave the callous chill of the night. One night however, she was assaulted by a gang of vagrants. They were on the knife edge of ending her life, until Asuka was rescued by a proficient swordswoman named Hibana Natsumi. Natsumi took the girl as her apprentice and gave her a home, but only under the condition that Asuka endure her strict and sometimes brutal training. Years after training under Natsumi's harsh yet loving guidance, Asuka expressed her desire to use her finely honed skills in kenjutsu to protect her people and prevent them from undergoing the same tragedy she and her family endured. This led to the abandonment of Natsumi-sensei and Asuka's training, which was left incomplete at the time. After a rather tumultuous departure from her master, Asuka left the dojo, delivering on her promise to protect those in need with her sword. Her vast knowledge of the sword and her remarkable skill gained the eye of several feudal lords, to which she was employed, starting off as an assassin and later becoming a body-guard, then a full fledged samurai leading a battalion of her own hardened swordsmen, the Shi no Kami or "Wind of Death." Hundreds upon thousand fell by her bloodstained blade and she received many gifts and honors from the feudal lords, but...it was when she and her men were forced to massacre a village of innocents she saw the true nature of the blade....a sword was meant to kill... She felt nothing more than guilt after the night of the crimson blades, haunted by those she had ruthlessly murdered against her will and tormented to no end by the monster she had become. This was not what she wanted. The sword she carried was meant to protect.....but a sword is a sword....it's meant to slay. Hounded by her painful melancholy, Asuka once again abandoned a place of honor, renouncing her days as one of the most legendary samurai and adopting the life of a ronin wandering from village to village, offering her hand to help rather than to kill. Strengths: Legend of the Blade - Asuka's swordsmanship is unmatched by many a samurai. She can strike with the utmost speed and brutality and dispatch several foes with such finesse and agility, similar to that of a god. Eagle Eyes - She is very quick witted and has a keen sharpened sense, able to predict any attack before it is inflicted, giving her a split second to evade it before retaliating herself. The Wind of Death - On more notable times in battle, her past side will emerge, cold, ruthless, and threatening. Her violent persona can intimidate her enemies and strike terror into the heart of any that cross her path Weakness: 1.) When she's not in battle, she can tend to be a bit of a klutz and trip over things, sometimes her own feet. 2.) Her overly-humble self usually means she can be gullible and sometimes considered weak by others 3.) When her violent side does emerge, she often alienates those she aims to protect, focusing only on killing her target and nothing more. This later leads to her feeling remorseful for her actions. 4.) She is careless of her own life, which means no matter the danger, she will throw herself into the path of it to save others without a single regard to her own well-being. 5.) Despite her prowess with a sword, Asuka isn't all that muscular, meaning she has a difficult and often embarrassing time lifting heavy objects or people. 6.) She loses herself around food and can be quite the glutton, one time eating nearly fourteen bowls of rice with grilled eel 7.) Though she hates to admit it, Asuka is a terrible swimmer and if she's thrown in any kind of deep water, she'll sink like a stone Likes: Music, sipping tea, meditating, sometimes playing with small children, enjoying the splendor of nature, eating (alot), and ink painting, a hobby she acquired at a young age Dislikes: Killing, but if she must....she will do so. Dream: Her dream is but to settle down somewhere and live a simple life far from the killing and bloodshed she had once known Fear: The only person Asuka fears most is herself. She is constantly afraid of her past self taking over for good and returning her to the ever-violent Wind of Death
