Jorrick Gedelwein Boar to a Stag, Stag to a Bear.
Full name: Jorrick Gedelwein Titles: 'Gnarl' Rank: the Bear. Age: 34 Gender: male. Appearance: Personality: Gnarl is a pretty bossy guy, someone who demands respect even without saying a word. His face, body language and general attitude say it all: 'Don't mess with me.' Despite his harsh attitude though, he is a pretty brotherly guy and treats those within the Iron Company with the respect they deserve -- they're equals after all. His harsh ways seem to stem from his military experiences, and he has no illusions about the roughness of a battle field. In some ways he's quite happy that he gets to play a lookout for most of his time at Stags' Rest for that exact reason. Never the less his understanding for the fact that they'll have to do battle sooner or later is there, and he realizes it fully well. History: Gnarl's father was in the Iron Company as a Boar so it only made sense for him to join as well. A young lad like him, he spent most of his time playing squire, giving people there weapons before battles and running around giving people new shields when their old ones had broken mid-battle. As such, he has seen people die at a relatively young age compared to others. His playfulness as a kid helped him get acquainted with many of the higherups in the Iron Company -- while they are equal you'd be a fool to disregard the social groupings in the Company. Because of this he was accepted relatively easy as a Boar later on, showing prowess in battle and even saving someones skin a few times left and right. He went through the company as a good guy, and most of them liked him. The real banger came later on when the Bear died mid battle, causing the Iron Company to rout. The battle was lost and the employer wasn't happy, and offered them two choices -- they either took their weapons straight back there to kill the enemy, or they'd be hung. Now, this would be an empty threat if the employer wasn't the King himself of that time, Isolde's father. Normally the Bear was decided to be the strongest in the company, but the previous Bear had been the Bear for so long, nobody had attempted to even measure strength. Arguments ensued but were abruptly stopped by Gnarl, who stepped forward with his sword in hand. Knowing the power of the King all too well, he spoke to the Iron Company, saying that they'd stand here argueing for days while their enemy gathered back their strength. They had to strike now, while they were celebrating and hit as hard as they could to rout the enemy instead. Many agreed, and soon after flock-effect happened, everyone opting to follow Gnarl into battle. They crushed the enemy heavily, in the battle which was henceforth known as 'The Battle of the Gunbar river' named after the river near which it took place. Many of the current Iron Company, or Queens Guard are veterans of this battle and follow Gnarl blindly, though there are some newer members or older members that have gotten annoyed with his decision to settle down with the Queen. Skills: Gnarl is a strong man, and is said to be able to cleave a man in two. Now, this isn't true, but he is rather strong. That aside he is skillful with the spear and shield, and has some serious leadership skills. He can rally men and women alike like no other, using words like weapons at times. Dreams and fears: His dreams are to make the Iron Company into something more prestigious than 'a murderous band of mercenaries' and more like a knightly order of some kind, feared and renowned for their combat skills. One might say that's why he has taken the Queens offer, and those that say that will likely be right. His fears are that of many mortal men; dying at the hand of some enemy lord come to take their village. While he doesn't fear for his own life as much, his position has made him feel very much so obliged to protect those in the Iron Company. Any death within their ranks counts as a heavy blow to his mental state, and a man can only take so much. Favored equipment: Though he doesn't like heavy plate armor, he is practically forced to don it. He wears a dark brown tunic with a plate armor breastplate over that made of steel, the Iron Tree painted on. His pauldrons are also plate armored, adorned with a fashionable head of a bear on the right side. Because he's 'The Bear' after all, and the Queen respects the Iron Company and their values. He wears leather gloves too, simple and useful, and his upper arms are protected by chainmail hanging from the pauldrons. Over his upper legs he doesn't wear much, since he has a shield to cover that, but his lower legs are covered again by plate armor. His shoes are leather high boots, nothing too fancy. Obviously he has a shield -- it's a wooden roundshield made of oak, imported from the Northern coldlands. It didn't originally have a steel rim around it, but Gnarl had that made on it by the blacksmith. It also had the Iron Tree painted on, which Gnarl doesn't really like because he has to get it repainted whenever someone hits the shield. Which is often. He also has a rather simple spear -- it's simple because it's basically a stick with a pointy steel tip. You stab people with it, and that's what Gnarl is good at.

If anyone wishes so, you can play the Queen. Just make sure to PM me so we can discuss how, what and how. You'll have full creative abilities for the CS but I'll need to have some invoice in her plans plot-wise. If nobody wants to play the Queen, but someone wishes to take above character that's fine too -- you can play the Bear, but I'll need to be the Queen in that case (yay, cross-RPing). If someone wants this you can change the CS around, this is basically a placeholder if nobody wants to play either of them, so that I can directly control the plot.
