Good to see some interest. I'm going to wait until at least one or two more people show interest before I throw up an OOC, but until I also have five solid RPer's to stick around, the Interest Check shall remain open for all and any. So for those of you itching to make a CS, here's some background information. More to come later. Wayward
Originally a mining colony at the base of an iron-rich mountain, Wayward has flourished into a small but thriving town over the years. One of the few settlements bordering the Wilderness (Lands unclaimed by any recognized kingdom, often home of various primitive races and horrible monsters), what they lack in size they make up for in character. Though the town has only been standing for about 10 years, it has managed to reach a population of about 1000, with more people coming and going to keep track of. Wayward is also one of the few settlements that promote a peaceful coexistence with other races; so long as you do no harm to others in Wayward, anyone is welcomed. There are still some racial tensions, but they tend to be between individuals themselves rather than supported by the town as a whole. In order to protect the town from marauders, dangerous beasts, and any other physical threat, Wayward also has a militia. Taking any able-bodied male or female, they do their best to train them into something of a defense force. While they won't compare to a real standing army, they are not entirely defenseless, and Captain Torrok is a good taskmaster and a capable trainer. Of course, joining the militia isn't the only way one can learn to defend themselves. Magic is still largely seen with superstition in Wayward, but even so they allow the wizard Auldie to take up residence. Though a somewhat temperamental man, he is willing to teach anyone who can tolerate him the basics in magic, as well as study the books and tomes in his vast archive. And to provide spiritual guidance, Mother Fortuna runs the church of Ren. Though dismissed by some religious organizations for worshipping a deity who truly has no particular interest in the mortal world, Mother Fortuna is still a kind and caring woman who provides a open home and a guidance for anyone who goes through her doors. And lastly, there are is the hunting lodge. Lead by Master Yosho, he and his hunters not only provide meat and furs for the town of Wayward, but also would also handle covert operations that require specialized talents rather than the blunt force of the militia. In essence, Captain Torrok leads the militia and will teach others how to be Fighters, Berserkers, Swashbucklers, and Cavaliers. Auldie controls the Tower and will teach others how to become Wizards, Sorcerers, Warlocks, and Bards. Mother Fortuna runs the Church of Ren and will teach others how to become Clerics, Monks, Druids, Shamans, and Paladins. And lastly, Master Yosho runs the Hunting lodge and will teach others the art of Rogues and Rangers.
Gransis
The Kingdom of Gransis is well over 3000 years old, perhaps even more so if records dating back further had not been lost. A predominately human kingdom ruled by King Jordan, their claim to glory came from the war known as "Fallen Gods", where the heavens themselves fought against one another for reasons still debated to this day. Gransis were not only one of the few kingdoms left after the god's destruction, but also had a hand in ending the war. This makes many believe that Gransis would have the gods favor, though as with many things with the gods, the truth is much more complicated than that. The total population of Gransis is approximately 500000, however that does not include nomadic tribes/clans within Gransis, of which the numbers could be closer to about 600000. Gransis main export is their crops and harvest, as they have the most arable lands in all of the world. Gransis also is the current holder of the strongest army, with 100000 enlisted soldiers, not including possible mercenaries and adventure guilds. Gransis also is home to the elite warriors called the "Arisen", men and women from all walks of life who have survived and defeated many trials and hardships, making them the hardiest and skilled warriors in Gransis. They personally guard the king and his family, however they are also tasked to ensuring peace throughout all of Gransis, so they can often be seen overseeing the operations of various campaigns, or even in the midst of battle against Gransis' enemies. Gransis does have some issues with various "barbarian" tribes who would raid their merchants for supplies, though after many successful negotiations, this issue is on the decline. Still, it's best to hire some guardsmen when you move between cities, as there are still notable bandits and other savages willing to attack you for very little reason beyond entertainment. Gransis has amicable relationship with the Null States and the Empire of Atisha, however Gransis had only recently (It was ten years ago give or take) ended their war with the Halteese Republic. They sought to expand into the Wilderness, however after various conflicts with Gransis (Who were also aiming to do the same), war broke out between the two nations. The war, known as the "Wild Fights", lasted for seven years before a truce was called, agreeing that neither nations will build further into the Wilderness until it is properly explored for bargaining and negotiations. However many see this as simply a cease-fire, as both Gransis and the Halteese are quite aware of the prizes that lie within the Wilderness, ripe for the taking. Though Gransis took the most loses in terms of how many of their soldiers had died during the war, they had managed to lay claim to various mineral-rich deposits and territory, whereas the Halteese suffered less loses but also no gains.
