Well to most authors, some good, some bad, pairing wars help sell their content and get it out there. You have die hard fans shipping things until the day they die and it helps promote their material. I would have liked seeing Haymitch in the games but his influence is outside of it. If Peeta was on the outside, I don't know if he'd be able to help them like Haymitch did Katniss unless Haymitch taught him some skills or told him who to talk to. A lot of the Katniss Peeta moments are pretty forced to me, but then again anything leading to a pairing can feel pretty forced to me. I have no bias for any pairing, but I agree that Peeta and Katniss just don't seem to fit for me. Great friends, yes, but nothing else. Maybe if I get to Mockingjay in the future I'll see what you're talking about xP
