It's good for what you're paying. If it were me, I'd spring for an i7, because it'll go out of date the slowest, and is more of an investment, but if you're dead set on sticking to a budget, you could do that. I would personally go high end i5 if I couldn't get an i7 under any circumstances, but that's just me.
