There is aluminium, and it's most certainly light enough, but we can assume that planes haven't been invented yet simply as a fluke. Nobody really bothered, they'll almost certainly come into existence during the RP though, I imagine everyone would be going crazy over them due to the advantages they would provide. Warfare RP wise would be played out disconnected from stats. Battles could be won either through overwhelming numbers, overpowering weaponry, or superior tactics. Warfare from an in-universe standpoint would be WWII-style, mainly because tanks exist. WWI trench tactics are completely useless when you have tanks, and modern military tactics simply wouldn't have been thought of.
