Well, gold is a soft metal, using it in combat is very ineffective, so chances are that no one would find your weakness if they needed it... what about whatever metal your chains are made from? Kind of like a "surprise, they're my weakness" kind of thing? (not saying I'm against the gold idea that much, just saying this is a possible alternative)
