Let me rephrase: If a Codex dies, another becomes the next Codex, right? Now, say Elkepzel's position was naturally a threat to some other person. However, if Elkepzel was killed, another would fill the position and nothing would be accomplished. If Elkepzel [i]wasn't[/i] killed, but instead he was reborn by some magic, then (I'm supposing) an heir couldn't take his place, so the position would be unfilled for a time. Then the person wouldn't have the threat of that position.
