Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand... this is where [i]I[/i] will call bullshit on the idea that a religion that is supposedly not even mandatory was enough to keep the magically inclined minority of the population to stop them from abusing their magic to keep a hold on the population with absolutely no Immortal to keep them in check (EDIT) and try to stamp out the magitech revolution with their authority? 

I mean, even in MLP 99% of the actual academic institutions and higher studies were focused strictly on magic.
