Prim was trying to cope as best she could and Katniss just needed to remind herself that they were still sisters who loved each other. and that when things got tough they needed to stick together, not push one another away. "I've been doing it a lot I might want to take a break actually." She laughed a little as she got a spoonful of a potato salad and put it next to her two sandwich triangles. Katniss was a little tired and thought she should work on upper body, by perhaps using the monkey bars or doing some free weights. Katniss hadn't gotten around to seeing what the others like Finnick or Beetee were up to and she knew she also needed to scope out other parts of the competition. Haymitch said having allies would benefit them but she was beginning to question his logic. If allies would keep Prim and Gale and Haymitch safe though, she knew she had to consider getting a feel for who she could ignore and who she'd be foolish to overlook. "Me?" Gale looked up. "I might." He suddenly felt a little self conscious because he wasn't as polished or as poised as Katniss. he knew Prim had been able to hold her head high even when faltering with the knives but Gale just wanted to prove he was also someone to look out for. "I might have to start off on an easier level than Katniss." He smiled. Gale was happy with how pleasant the atmosphere was around the three of them. Like Prim, he considered that this could be a scene back home. Prim had just cooked lunch and they could all sit around, acting like nothing else mattered outside their humble district. Instead, he knew they were all in danger and that this wasn't the past, but the terrifying present. They needed to take it seriously as well as remember who they were before it all happened. "I heard we only have to train in the afternoon tomorrow, so we get to sleep in." He mentioned. "That sounds like heaven." Katniss smiled as she took a big bite out of her sandwich. The short window for lunch flew by and soon Peeta made his own appearance as Katniss and the others were getting ready to go back down. "Primrose, Gale, I need to talk to you about something." He said. Katniss hesitated and stood by them at the foot of the stairs. "Don't worry, they'll be down shortly..." Peeta said to Katniss, finding it hard and even weird to address her so formally but he knew this was one of the few places they may be able to talk about his plan. Katniss moved between then and pulled them into a hug, her arms looping around their shoulders briefly before she headed off. Peeta watched her go and after the elevator glided downwards, he motioned for the other two to sit down in the living room. "What I have to say, Haymitch and Katniss cannot know about. They can't be hinted or given clues or anything like that." Peeta said, trying to organize his thoughts. "What's going on?" Gale asked and sat down, grabbing Prim's hand. Peeta remained standing and took a deep breath. "I've a plan to get you guys out. I mean, you four, Beetee, Wiress, Johanna, Finnick, Cinna, Effie, me and Portia." It was a long list and one he knew he couldn't waver on. "I know you two made friends with Iva and Yelven but I'm sorry, I can't save them too." He didn't want to list the reasons why because he hoped they were obvious but he needed them to know it had been considered. "I've gotten tipped off that the Gamemaster, Plutarch is on our side, I need to speak to him at the Ball but I haven't gotten time alone with him since our first correspondence and I've ask Johanna to make a scene to distract everyone for me." He sighed. "Beetee and Wiress' mentor is aware of what I'm planning, as are Johanna's and Finnick's. We'll try to save their Victors but this many people already is almost impossible...we'll be sending you all extra supplies like wires and rope and food...we've outlined a plan that can happen in seven days. That's what needs to happen...you all need to stay alive for seven days and we'll get you out." His hold on Prim's hand tightened as he tried to fathom what Peeta was going on about. A plan? A plan they not only had to hide but probably debunk around Katniss and Haymitch? And the long list of people who could be saved? Gale felt like he was barely above water. He knew this was a long shot but he also knew it was better than nothing. If he could keep Prim alive, if she could keep him alive, then it would all be worth it somehow. "What will happen in seven days?" Gale asked, his eyes staying on Peeta's form. The baker looked tired and if the plan had been keeping him busy, Gale could certainly understand why. Peeta explained that the layout of the arena would have a way for an explosion to happen and that he would arrive by air to pull them all out with the force-field disabled. He said it was the only way out. He also mentioned that on the off chance the plan failed, that they would need to stick to the wilds and make their way to any of the districts, many of which were already in the process of rebelling. "So Katniss' victory sparked something..." "Everyone is tried and fed up and this might be the one thing to push the public to act themselves." Peeta nodded. "You two need to prepare yourselves and make sure you don't tell anyone, you can't even talk to Finnick or the others in on the plan, Snow is watching us closely though Katniss and Haymitch the most, he will still have eyes and ears looking out for whispers of a plan." He said. "I know it's a lot to ask but you two aren't the same as last year, you're stronger, you have a lot to fight and live for. All I'm asking is a week, the rest of the plan should begin to take shape once you're inside the Games, I'll do whatever I can to help all four of you." He said. Gale finally tore his gaze away and looked at Prim. This was a tall order for anyone. He knew Prim was starting to stand on her own and he gave her and Peeta a nod, not needing to consider it anymore. To save the others, he would last a year in hell if need be. "We're in." Gale said quietly, hand still holding Prim's. Getting off the elevator, she saw people were migrating towards the training room. Katniss glanced around and saw Haymitch finally alone as his group of veterans had gone on ahead of him. Having since cleared the air with Prim, Katniss felt like her head was finally clear of any worry. But then she caught herself staring at said man and she remembered that she still had feelings for the guy. She cringed and felt like kicking herself. It seemed if she forgot about them or pretended they weren't there, that they wouldn't actually go away as she had hoped. Katniss tilted her head as she observed him putting some trash away and she realized she was rather fucked if she could watch someone she love do something so stupid and mundane. Katniss finally walked over to him, holding back the urge to just grumble and whine about her feelings which might just get her killed. "Hey." She said. Though she was annoyed with herself, she was still in a good mood. Haymitch couldn't ruin that for her, even if he wasn't really trying. "I'm not sure if it matters to you or not but...me and Prim made up." She smiled a little which would be a nice cover in case her mind got the better of her and actually made her grin like an idiot for an entirely different reason. Katniss wasn't fond of seeing him in the same training uniform as her, it wasn't flattering for one thing but she still hated herself that he was there when he had already suffered enough. Katniss resisted the urge to hang onto him and apologize for the millionth time and that she'd gladly die if it meant he'd be alright, that he was important to her. "You know we could do a simulation sometime." She spoke up as they headed back together, her shoulder brushing against his. She wasn't sure if she did it on purpose or not though. "It might be useful to make sure we can fight without getting in each other's way." Katniss smirked a little at him. Of course she wasn't implying that either of them were careless enough to make a mistake but she thought it might help them. And spending some one on one time regardless, might be nice.
