Harper checked his phone for the time, six thirty. Twenty more minutes until school actually started. He guessed that there was about five or ten before more students arrived. He let out a soft sigh before taking a seat near the front of the class and set his bag next to his feet. This was the only time he was going to have alone for the day. He thought about his mother, no doubt her and his father are arguing. One day it got so out of hand that the people residing below them called the cops. Harper was actually great full they did. He could tell his father was on the brink of using violence and that would have turned into a whole other ordeal that he wanted to avoid. If it came down to it Harper will always put his mother's safety first. He wishes that he didn't have to, but the father he once knew is long gone. Harper's mother is all that he has left.
