Actually, nevermind, I figured it out. I forgot Mako and Bolin would have recalled Lin rushing to ATI, the only surprise probably would've been the fact Lin even stayed so late. Korra just never mentioned it so I didn't know how Mako would react until I remember he saw her in a hurry to leave the station before they got to the cafe together.
