Also I think he's trying to give the notation that having a character that relies on the help of other characters is a bad idea especially if your goal interferes with their own. Also if none of the other characters agree to go with you, you pretty much halted your own characters progress incidently. I think the idea is that eventually your character would cross paths with every other player eventually to create a web of arcs and ultimately building a world that would eventually be affected by the GM's hand later on (I'm assuming)If two characters decide to travel together than your actually halting the progress of building the world around you. It may not of been intentional but it does happen.
Thank you, that was quite helpful. Though when you say 2 characters goals interfere, that's not bad. That is conflict between characters and is brilliant Basically my character is getting an urge to follow his family where it disappeared. He wants allies for this. Other than that my character has little motivation or goals. I built a character to interact with other characters so he could do favours and one day get their help. I'm sorry for taking so long to understand, but I think I may have to leave (to the rejoicing of many I'm sure.) I much prefer interacting with other characters and people. If I'm not allowed to know another character for fear of conflict I don't really want to play, as that essentially means we have to either write the same character or never interact.
