As a Kaleesh, his view of war is that it is a necessary part of life. He has not heard of Revan or the Revanchists cause, rather he most likely signed up for defense against the atrocities the Mandalorians committed. The Council KNEW what happened on Cathar, and still did not lend full support. With word going around of what the Mandalorians did on Cathar, it was probably his code of honor that drove him to IRSOG.
