Well the way I was thinking of it was like this:

The Silver Centurion was focused mainly on absorbing energy like solar power while things like cosmic energy put a strain on Tony. So anyone that uses cosmic energy to fight the suit cCOULD absorb it but at great cost to Howie, things like bullets and other obj like that it wouldn't absorb because it occurs so fast it wouldn't have time to process it.
