Welcome to the Capitol City The Country of Zhùfú-Guāng is in dire need of rehabilitation after a steep financial crisis. War has killed any semblance of unity. For years, surrounding territories struggled for power within an imperial government system. Unstable growth rates across the empire have stunted trade and lowered the currency value. Now that the central government’s power has weakened, wealthy families are jumping at the chance to exercise their influence. However, rumors speak of royal subjects’ desires to shift the land into a Republic. In these times of distrust and uncertainty, gold and loyalties are either your best friend or worst enemy. As an active member of this RP you will be living in the capital city, Xiàngyáng, as a member of one of the five noble families working as a government official. I want people to have the ability to interact in different places with multiple people, so please follow this format when making IC posts:
Setting: Imperial Palace - Time: Morning --- [Your post goes here! If you want to write multiple scenes, add a horizontal line after this, and copy what you previously did.] --- Setting: A restaurant in town - Time: Evening --- [Your new scene goes here :D Writing multiple scenes allows people to have more interaction with different RP members. If someone isn't available for a few days we don't have to wait to continue the entire RP, only the scenes we're communicating with them in.]
--- Character Creation The families are listed by influence. Each clan has an agenda to push. Keep in mind, whichever clan you choose will influence other people's interactions with you, especially those within certain departments. -Please note, if you are the head of a clan or a chief minister you are allowed to create a "perk." Perks can be anything of your choosing that helps your department or clan. There is an example in the occupation tab. However, I will review perk submissions before excepting them. -Fun Fact: The country is neither matriarchal or patriarchal. Children take the name of whichever parent comes from a more influential family. Also, most citizens follow Chinese Folk Religion. If your character is religious, this gives you a lot of room to build on (it's a diverse religious system).
Ou-Yang Clan: Internal conflict is brewing within the imperial family. Emperor Déshèng lies on his death bed, and his children are far too young to take the throne. Family members are conspiring ways to come out on top. For the most part, this clan fights to keep the Country of Zhùfú-Guāng imperialistic to maintain power. However, distant relatives of the Emperor who live in the far North are rumored to entertain the thought of a republic. Members of this clan have the strongest social influence. Chua Clan: Chua is a well-known name throughout the country belonging to Zhùfú-Guāng’s wealthiest family. The main house is not located in the capital city, but there is a manor in town. This clan is heavily invested in trade and stocks. Many family members work in the financing department and have garnished plenty of respect, and fear from associates. At the moment, they’re trying to obtain more land in the south, and are planning on constructing something in the area that will yield profit. How this is done, depends on RP members. Xiang Clan: The Xiang Clan is famous for raising war heroes and great generals. They have a strong influence over military conditions and have funded many military related projects within the capital. A member of this family drafted the city guard system, and since then the clan has worked to build guard posts and strengthen the country’s overall security. Besides the Lum Clan, they have the most interaction with townsfolk because of how many family members work in the city watch/guard. They hold public meetings to propose ideas and future plans. Zheng Clan: The largest library in Zhùfú-Guāng is owned by the Zheng Clan and is said to be hidden somewhere within the main house. Important documents are stored away in the clan’s library. On many occasions, the other noble families will go to them for information. Members of this clan are known to be studious, and are praised for good organizational skills and memory work. Out of all the noble families, the Zheng clan has the largest number of government employees spread throughout different departments and cities. Lum Clan: Anyone who has ever had to visit a clinic in Xiàngyáng knows of this family. The clan’s wealth is mostly attributed to medical ventures. Lots of doctors and civil affair workers come from this family. They have a steady trade relationship with the Chua clan, and make tons of profit from selling medicines and medical equipment blue prints. They’re pushing for the Chua clan to make the country’s first surgical hospital. People are debating over who should be named the next household head.

Ministries: There will be chief ministers, advisers, educators, managers, secretaries, document workers, and page boys/girls. However, if you would like to work in any of the non-anonymous positions you are allowed to do so without consulting me. --- Other Jobs: Grand Advisors: The emperor’s personal advisers.
Name: Zheng Hui-Ying Age: 22 Gender: Female Occupation: Temporary Chief Minister of the Inspection Agency Title: Chief Zheng, Lady Hui-Ying Height: 5'4" or 162.6 cm Weight: 113 lbs or 51.52 Kg Personality: Hui-Ying is a calm individual who will think situations through before bringing them to public attention. She is a workaholic with a strong drive, and wont put down a case until she feels every issue has been smoothed out. Her loyalty lies within the inspection department, not noble families. She is a tidy woman who keeps her department organized. Listening to music is one of her favorite pass times; she has a strong appreciation of the arts (even though she isn't talented in any of them). Socializing has never been an issue for her, and she will talk the day away, especially if the conversation benefits her work. As expected of her role, she is a strong believer in justice. History: From a young age, Hui-Ying enjoyed theater, and loved to watch plays where the main character was solving mysteries. As a child, she would run around the Zheng clan's main house looking for "top secret information." Her parents were among the lower ranking members of the Zheng family, and she decided they weren't given enough credit, thus starting her journey for justice. When she was fifteen, Hui-Ying passed the first stage of national exams and began working as a page girl in the Department of Finances before being promoted to working on documents. While there, she noticed discrepancies and brought them to the Inspection Agency's attention. After two years of finance work, she took the second stage of national exams and was transferred to the Inspection Agency. Upon transfer, she worked as a secretary but eventually moved her way up to an advisory position. During the time a new chief minister was being appointed, she found evidence of him embezzling court members' money to gain votes. After the fiasco, she was appointed temporary chief minister (due to her knowledge on the case), and will act as one until the court picks a new chief. Skills: -She is skilled in accounting -She can keep calm in stressful situations -She has an easy time imitating and acting out emotions. Weaknesses: -She has no combat experience -She is young and doesn't have as much experience as officials in similar positions. -Coming from "lower birth," she has a habit of keeping quiet around higher ranking people. -She is self conscious about her lack of artistic talents, especially because most nobles are well taught in them.
