Twisted, I had planned on a gating system. I figured it'd be pretty solid. Amongst other ideas.

I thought a good idea for the RP is that all ships can move FTL out side a solar system but inside it would be half light speed and no teleporting. (unless you have pre set gates. But this is a separate issue)

Reason why I say half light speed is that it only takes light 8 minutes to go from the sun to earth.
