He mentioned that he had been talking about her in regards to the beautiful night. She grinned, unable to stifle the warmth that filled her up when he complimented her, let alone looked at her with those eyes of his. He had been the only person to make her feel like an actual woman, not some girl pretending to be in love, or someone’s sister or some pest who cheated to gain a victory. No, with Haymitch she felt accepted as she was without any sort of label or expectation. As they sat away from most of the curious eyes, Katniss wondered what Prim might be up to with Gale. She could be worried or she could be hopeful. Either way, she wanted to enjoy Haymitch and trust that the other two knew not to do anything stupid or reckless, which pretty much meant they couldn’t do snything she might want to do herself, like make an escape or some scene. Had Katniss been in on the plan, she would have offered to raise a little hell with Johanna since she wanted to help. Bu she didn't know so she and Haymitch had to feel a bit helpless and out of the loop, but for now the ignorance wasn't so bad. From where they sat, the music could be heard and only a handful people had walked by, many of them older with drinks in their hands. She thought she spotted Beetee and Wiress on the other far side of the lawn looking up at the sky and pointing to something. She had a feeling they were quickly remarking about the power source among other things that went well over her head. Other than that, they weren't really noticed by anyone which was very welcomed in Katniss' mind, she didn't like the attention even though she knew it was useful given their daunting situation. By this point, her left leg was still covered while her right one was now bare with the black fabric having fallen to the side. If she had known her dress was almost a distraction for her date, she may have tried to use it to her advantage. He suggested they could dance now and that he shoes would likely need to stay on. She glanced down at them with a slight frown. He was right and height they gave would be beneficial, even if she didn't like them. "I guess you're right." Katniss considered and got to her feet. If they were going to dance, she'd rather they do it now before she changed her mind. "Come on." She held out a hand for him. So far, the night had been alright though not much had happened and maybe if she actually did something, it might make the night actually fun. And she already knew dancing with Haymitch was fun as it lead to fun things. Gale could sense the room shift a little as people began to whisper about what had just happened. Snow made some gestures and the mood seemed to quick to revert to how things had been prior to Johanna’s outburst of sorts. Gale was sure she would be fine but he understood the concern. Johanna had more experience with the Capitol and the fragile ins and outs of everything. SHe surely knew what she had gotten into when she spoke to Peeta and all he and Prim could do was trust them and their actions. There was so much he felt they needed to know but he was hoping that Peeta would now be able to fill them in a bit more on what to expect and how things would work. Or hopefully work. “I think that’s a good idea.” He replied to her. Katniss and Haymitch couldn’t be shouldered with the take of being District 12’s face, he and Prim had to step up and make sure people remembered them too. He was sure Peeta would be able to sell them if sponsors and viewers actually cared about them. Gale knew Peeta would use the angle of Katniss’ sister but Gale really didn’t want to do that tonight. Prim and Katniss were sisters yes, but there was more to them than that and he hoped the training and performance at the end of it proved that. Gale got up and wiped his mouth and hands before he offered his hand to Prim. For now he figured they couldn’t be too close but he wanted to prove they were still united in a sense. The pair headed off to walk around the large ballroom and Gale settled on a cluster of people who seemed to be talking about some of the previous Games. “Excuse me.” Gale said, his hand now around Prim’s back as he interjected. “That really was a good way, I believe that was the one Finnick won.” He commented, hating how he had to pretend to enjoy the brutality of it all. He glanced to Prim and offered her a smile though it was a bit forced. Gale had no idea how Haymitch or Peeta had to put up with this crap. “My name is Gale Hawthorne and this is Primrose Evderdeen-” “Oh it is so lovely to meet you!” A woman cried out, she had on a black wig with streaks of neon pink and green which reached down to her lower back. The man beside her had on a red and gold outfit which matched the decor. He reached out to shake both their hands. “It’s so funny, you and your sister look nothing alike.” He laughed. “Contrary to Sindy’s hair, I do prefer those with your hair color.” He said. “It’s so light, like the sun or a million stars coming together.” He said. “My name is Daviod.” He added smoothly. Gale looked back to Prim, not sure why he had an odd feeling about the group, especially Daviod. “So...are you enjoying the Ball?” Gale spoke up, trying to push the man’s attention off of Prim. It was just weird. Sindy said she was and asked them the same. “Yes, I think we are.” He said and looked to Prim for her to answer.
